When Zack asked me to join MMO, I was at first doubtful. I do not play an instrument and my singing abilities are average at best. Yet, I couldn’t say no because I do love music. While my voice is definitely not in tune enough to make any performances, I sing with my roommates all the time! My role includes managing the equipment, website, and other documents.

I have always had a passion for helping people through music. I have had my own experiences with music helping me cope with very difficult things in my life. Knowing the emotional and community benefits of musical performances, led to the creation of this club. This passion has led me to major in neuroscience and music, and my thesis focuses on this idea as well. Zack and I met and began discussing ideas for how we can make this an opportunity for the Middlebury College community and surrounding communities. I’m one of MMO’s co-presidents and work to organize, get the word out about outreach opportunities, and perform.

Hello! My name is Reika Herman and I am so excited to be on the MMO Board this term. I joined MMO because I admire its mission to use music as a means to connect and serve the Middlebury community. I currently act as MMO’s Virtual Coordinator, a new role established to accommodate the circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic. I am responsible for monitoring the quality of video and audio performance submissions by members of our College community, and editing and finalizing all of our virtual performances. I am also here to provide advice about recording setups, or to simply explain our virtual concert process if you’d like to know more!
